Changed Training
In order to preparo for the duties the
Section was being called upon to play in the Defence Scheme, the
Section was split up into four sub-sections.
Sub-Section (Visual) Office and Switchboard work.
“
Sub Section B (Line) Cable laying and Maintenance of lines. Sub-Section C ("ireless) Operating of Field W/T Sots.
Sub-Section D Despatch Riders' Section.
During the Combined Operations, the Section took over the duties of Mainland Command Signals and, considering the fact that it was the first opportunity of testing the revised organization,
communications run smoothly.
The Section was fortunate in having donated to them, by a public minded individual, two new B.S.A. Motor Cycles. These machines form the nucleus of a Despatch Rider Sub-section. It remains to be seen whether this sub-section will be comprised of Chinese or Europeans. In the meantimo a limited and selected number
are being recruited.
The numbers of the Section are again maintained for the second year, which is considered encouraging, and it is hoped to attract further suitable recruits during the coming year.
The Soction Sergeant. R.S. Meadows who is at present home on leave, has undergone a course of instruction and has duly passed
the required examination.
CORPS INFANTRY.(Fortuguese Company).
Officer Commanding - Major S. Jarvis, M.C.
The Company strength is now 7 Officers and 200 other ranks as compared with 6 Officers and 126 other ranks at the date of the last report. The large increase is due to recruiting in connection with the Jubilee of the late King George V and also with the
formation of "B" Company.
"B" Company, the anti Aircraft Light Automatic Unit, was formed by the transfer of 27 N.C.Os and men from "A" Company and filled up by recruiting with a view to providing 3 men per post
together with the nocessary personnel.
